The ghostly suggestion of a building – or is it a trick of the imagination? – lurks behind a stand of teasel.

Ablaze
The eastern horizon, ablaze.
Cautiously
Stella cautiously looks over the edge of the deck of a treehouse we recently stayed at.
Serene
Today’s dawn was a marvellously serene prelude to a great day. It’s good to be alive and to experience the turn of the seasons.
Help
We recently had a short yet most delightful sojurn at a treehouse. After settling in, Faye and I strolled down a nearby country road. We returned to discover that Achilles and Stella provided much help during our absence. They ensured that the sleeping platform did not float away.
Ablaze
Sumac, ablaze in fall finery
Riding the wind
Achilles’ post-dental work report
Achilles had his two week check-up the other day, after several dental extractions on October 7. The vet is very pleased with his recovery and said that the extrachtions have healed quite well. He gave the go-ahead to slowly resume feeding kibble beginning today, two weeks post-surgery. Lamentably, more teeth need to be extracted. They can wait though; there is no hurry.
For now, we give thanks for the good boy’s fine recovery.
Begun
Falls’ palette has begun its artistry. Brushing this bush is only one of many artworks to come.
Handsome
I founf this handsome little gaffer just outside the front door at work. It tolerated my gently poking at him by climbing onto my hand and accepting a lift to a more sheltered spot.
