Reflect

Reflect

It’s good to reflect. To look in the mirror, to ponder what we see.

Exquisite beauty

Exquisite beauty

Abut 7mm of rain fell yesterday and another 13mm overnight, making the yard much too wet to work in. So we took a drive, then stopped for a walk in a bush. We were treated to many wonderful sights, sounds, and experiences. It was a treat to see many, many White Trilliums, Ontario’s floral emblem. This one was particularly exquisite.

Rosie

Rosie

Another sign spring has arrived, first sighting of a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Reclusive and shy birds, this fellow watched and waited by the bird feeder for over five minutes before finally dropping down to feed. Then he hung around, perched inconspicuously in the Scotch pine for some time, singing sweetly as we ate dinner. Welcome back, we have missed you.

Like a duck out of water

Like a duck out of water

This pair of Wood Ducks waddled across a neighbours’ yard. We live a couple hundred meters from the nearest open water so it was quite odd to see them here.

These deer, and three more, walked onto the road in front of me (at a safe distance!). Fortunately I was able to capture two as they bounded across a field toward a bush.

Defiance

Defying the odds, rain, temperature, this snowbank hangs on well into May and spring.

Gold

Gold

The male goldfinches are finishing their spring molt. Such beautiful birds, their song is liquid gold, sweet and delightful to hear.

. . . and I don’t mean Sosa, or Hagar. One of our resident squirrels waits for Stella to be distracted before attempting to descend to the ground.
