Arrival

Here’s a portrait taken eight years ago today. Achilles, Stella, and me in front of our new house, new home, new stop on the great adventure that is life.

I had passed through Canadian Customs and Immigration about 2 1/2 hours previously. While I was inside processing paperwork, Achilles saw fit to climb into the drivers’ seat of the truck. His intent was to get a closer look at the dogs in the car next door. In the process he leaned on the horn, unpleasantly startling everyone in the parking lot. A CBSA official, after he relaxed, had the good grace to call out ‘I guess he’s ready to go.’

Life is an adventure. Sometimes it’s happy, ecstatic, sometimes simply life, sometimes unspeakably sad. Life’s an adventure and I look forward to the adventures ahead.

Onward

The road, the path, leads to . . . sometimes we know not what. It’s up to us to discover, to accept, to be open to life and to mystery.

Cob in gravel

I stopped to photograph landscapes, sweeping vistas. Looking down, I saw this corncob and it called out. Sometimes what you seek is underfoot. See me.

Prince and the pea

Achilles loves peas. Every time we enter the vegetable garden he’s just outside the fence, alertly and intently watching our every move. Although he takes them with a bit of a grab it’s a gentle grab, never making contact with the digits proffering the tasty treat.
