Illuminated

On a recent cloudy, foggy morning, the sun found a hole in the gray and mist. Bursting through to the ground, it illuminated this former school house, now someone’s home.

Green

During a recent camping trip with friends, I looked up. This maple leaf waved gently in the soft breeze, beckoning me to share and preserve it.

A real standout

As the light faded on a summer evening, these geranium blooms almost glowed against the background of our fence and vegetable garden.

Schoolhouse, Chatham-Kent

This schoolhouse, stands vacant, testament to an earlier time. A fine brick farmhouse stood next door until three years ago, when it was scraped to make way for a few hundred square feet more of cropland. We were very surprised that the school didn’t suffer the same fate. It’s probably only a matter of time until this building makes way for easier access for a farmers’ implements.

Gossamer, ephemeral beauty

Spider web, capturing early morning rays. More proof that beauty, majesty, is all around us in the everyday, the seemingly mundane. Stop, look, listen, contemplate, appreciate, give thanks for the (seemingly) small things.

Flowers in his hair

Flowers in his hair

Several years ago we bought this piece of yard art at the antique store at the Carlow crossroad. It has a semi-permanent spot in one corner of our backyard. Longhorns aren’t known for wearing flowers but the iris flower leaned over just right to dress him up.
