Achilles, taking his ease

On a warm summer afternoon.

Resilient

One week after a significant dental procedure – having eight teeth removed – Stella is basically herself. Today’s post-op checkup was very encouraging. Though two tooth sockets had opened there is no sign of infection and they are expected to close up. We’ll extend the antibiotic course for a few more days.

She eats every scrap of food (still canned though now I’m mixing in stew-type food). Crushing the antibiotic into the food makes it easy on both of us. Her energy level is excellent, interest in what goes on is normal, and she tolerates well having her muzzle touched.

This episode is a reminder of how resilient she is, and our canine companions are. She, and they, may be fazed, not themselves, for a bit. Yet they quickly bounce back, forgiving, resilient, accepting, ready to continue living.

Here she is last night .having resumed keeping a close eye on proceedings in our back yard.

Achilles removes himself as far from the vacuum cleaner as he can.

Travelling companion

Achilles got to go on a recent trip. He’s such a good boy on the road.

In motion

Achilles was in butt-tuck mode, racing around the yard, leaping on and off the deck. I tripped the shutter a little late as he made for the deck.

Still life

Actually, not so still. With a burst of energy, Achilles romps in the yard as Stella watches.

On guard
