Fitzi is a handsome and friendly senior statesdog from his kind – four-footeds – to our kind – two-footeds.

It has been a long time since I posted. A lot of shit has happened since then. A lot that sucks.
It can be easy to become anxious, depressed, angry, bitter, resigned, overwhelmed, withdrawn.
To give up.
I refuse to give up. There is still so much to take pleasure in, all around us, if we choose to open our senses to it. I’ve seen quite a lot to take pleasure in during the last several months.
So I am resuming sharing images from my corner of the world. Flowers, birds, food, our beloved dog, landscapes, cloudscapes. To show you, to share with you, to remind you that despite the fact that while the way we live now and will live are changing and will continue changing, there is still much to be thankful for.
I may occasionally write about corruption, criminality, inhumanity, incompetence, stupidity. 🙂 If you can’t handle that then I suggest ignoring those posts, or unfollowing me altogether.
Fitzi cuts a noble profile as a senior statesdog and is a fine ambassador of his kind to our kind.

My treasured Achilles, asleep.

Achilles, dozy dog on his cushy bed.

Achilles patiently watches and waits while I take a few photos.

Mid-lick.

Despite this blurry and out of focus image shot in low light, it is easy to see relaxed and at ease Achilles’ tongue simply hanging. I do think he either does not know or care whether his tongue is out. Whichever (or for another reason), it is most amusing and endearing.

Achilles, dozing on the deck of a pet friendly cottage we recently visited. We took only him, leaving Fitzi and Lucy at home in the care of a trusted sitter.
Achilles waits behind the gate while I work in the front yard.
While I’d like to have him out front with me – he is very unlikely to race off after some attraction – it’s better having him in the back yard. He is an old guy and I prefer having him there. He is safe from the stray or loose dog which might take advantage of his vulnerability while my back is turned or I’m otherwise unable to defend him.

Our most special senior Achilles takes his ease, and continues to cut a very dignified profile.
