Stories to tell.

This barn must have many, many stories to tell. It would be most interesting to sit and listen.

We came across this old house during a recent exploration of our municipality. It is obviously beyond saving.

What stories it must harbour!

An intriguing thing is that it still stands, while many old structures in our part of the world are knocked down in order to clear a bit more square meterage for crop planting. And while abandoned the lawn is obviously maintained, plus there is a ‘No Trespassing’ sign posted. The property owner cares enough to mow the lawn yet keep the structure it as is.

It’s a treasure.

Old houses

Faye and I drove by several abandoned houses yesterday. This one is unusual for our area in that it has wooden siding, most houses around here are brick.

I enjoy pondering the unknowns, the mysteries of such places. Who lived here? What were they like? How did they get along with their neighbours? How long did they live here? Why, and when, did they leave? What stories, lessons, does this place have to share?
