Fitzi and Lucy wait somewhat patiently for Faye to emerge from the kitchen.

Fitzi invited Achilles to play and Achilles accepted the invitation. By the time I got the iPad booted and camera app started they were winding down; they still danced so quickly that I only captured two blurs.

While walking Achilles and Stella this evening I sorted through some memories. One memory is the Adventure getting married, throwing up my life in Texas, and immigrating to Canada. Here’s a photo of us on our first day on the road to Canada in July 2007. It has been an adventure I have no regrets at all about undertaking.
Life is an adventure. I embrace it.

Beyond Stella, Achilles launches himself off of the deck. When he lands he will charge around the yard before leaping back onto the deck to race past Stella, who awaits developments.
It was so gratifying to see these two senior dogs playing like the young adults they once were. I could dwell on what they once were. I prefer to enjoy and be grateful for what they are now.

Stella spends more time laying in the sun these days. It undoubtedly feels good on her eleven year old self. though still pretty spry she’s a step slower, sleeps a little more. We all age and a part of the bargain of having dogs is that we watch them age and almost always have to let go of them before we ourselves go. I’m very rarely sad about her aging. It’s the way of things, the way of life and I accept it.
