Please throw the ball.

Fitzi’s favourite toy is this ball. We sometimes play chase/keep away using it as the prize. Here, he seems to say ‘I dare ya to take it.’

Fitzi invited Achilles to play and Achilles accepted the invitation. By the time I got the iPad booted and camera app started they were winding down; they still danced so quickly that I only captured two blurs.

Our foster Lucy, coming in search of someone to play fetch.

Sun pouring in through the living room window spotlights our foster dog Charlie as he pauses while playing with a toy.

Beyond Stella, Achilles launches himself off of the deck. When he lands he will charge around the yard before leaping back onto the deck to race past Stella, who awaits developments.
It was so gratifying to see these two senior dogs playing like the young adults they once were. I could dwell on what they once were. I prefer to enjoy and be grateful for what they are now.

Capturing dogs at play in a static image can be challenging. It’s hard to capture the dynamism, the posturing and gestures, the movement, their ‘speaking’ to one another. This photo doesn’t begin to show how Achilles and Stella were playing.
