Smoked chicken

It’s the Labour Day long weekend here and I smoked a whole chicken. It was a big bird, a little over 8 pounds (3.5 kilos). I butterflied the bird, used a dry rub, went light on the smoke. It turned out not too bad.

The Coolest Stick

Lucy sort of watches Fitzi race around the yard with The Coolest Stick On The Face Of The Earth.

I thought about cropping this photo to only show Fitzi, then decided that keeping Lucy in the frame added good interest.

Hearing

Hearing an unfamiliar sound out on the street, Fitzi heads to the gate to investigate.

One of the many.

One of the many sunflowers on our property.

We feed the birds, which means that they and the squirrels deposit sunflower seeds throughout the yard. The seeds sprout. Sunflowers grow. Seed eating birds glean the flower heads. The seeds they miss fall to the ground. The cycle renews, year after year.
