Achilles and Stella survey different parts of their domain.

Achilles had several teeth extracted today. He did well through several hours of sedation which is always a concern with senior dogs. Unfortunately a few more teeth need to come out; that will wait for another time.
Right now he’s resting in the bedroom, which is dark, quiet, and safe. Soon I will get some food into him while spending some time on the floor with him.
It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Along with my many, many other blessings I’m thankful Achilles did well today. How blessed I am to have this good boy!

A noble and important duty.

Achilles (who we guess is 12 years old) will have several teeth extracted on Friday October 7. While he’s in otherwise good condition there is always a small risk of complications when a senior dog undergoes surgery.
‘Bentley‘ refers to the forehead blaze that all cattle dogs and most cattle dog crosses have. ‘Glowing Bentley’ is a phrase many ACD owners use to ask for, or to send, good thoughts. So while I expect no problems, I ask you to send glowing Bentley thoughts next Friday.

While walking Achilles and Stella this evening I sorted through some memories. One memory is the Adventure getting married, throwing up my life in Texas, and immigrating to Canada. Here’s a photo of us on our first day on the road to Canada in July 2007. It has been an adventure I have no regrets at all about undertaking.
Life is an adventure. I embrace it.

My dog, my pet, my companion, my gem, my amazing discovery, a spirit dog.

Achilles is ready for autumn.

Still rummaging through old photos. I’d say Achilles the former Texan has adapted quite well to winter.
