Teasel heads, late afternoon

Teasel heads call to me. Though I know they are a ‘weed’ I like how the stalks are so straight and how the seed heads are so fuzzy. They are a favourite subject.

The dandelion has an undeservedly bad reputation. A great deal of propaganda has convinced many people that it is a weed and must be eradicated, which is a Sisyphean task.
Its flower is a cheerful reflection of the sun’s brilliance. The leaves are edible. I understand that a pleasant wine can be made from it. It has many medicinal uses.
While we do control their presence in the vegetable garden, they are accepted residents in our lawn and naturalized areas. Here, our foster dog Lucy stepped into my photo of a brilliant bloom.
