Awaits

Advantage

Beyond a bare already harvested soybean field, a combine chews its way through another soybean crop.

Living and working in a rural area has its advantages and drawbacks, as does living anywhere. I count as an advantage – a blessing – seeing this clear evidence of the changing seasons, of seeing where food comes from, of who harvests it and how.

Harvest

A combine cuts the first swathe through a soybean field. The last swathe may be done before I see the field tomorrow morning.

Back on Thursday.

Underfoot

While shooting landscapes I looked down and saw this gem. Beauty is sometimes right at your feet. It’s good to look down, we might miss something.

Incongruous

It was a little incongruous to see a combine working deep inside town limits.

Harvest

More of our gardens’ bounty. Butternut squash, sweet potatoes (and more to come!), and an experiment with corn. I think this is the only ear we got; we should do a little better next year once some trees are pruned which will allow more sunlight to reach the garden.
