It’s time

It's time

This cardinal perched on a TV antenna a few houses away and sang, and sang, and sang, what a lovely sound welcoming spring. It’s not far away, we have a little more winter to go, are getting closer and closer.

Waiting

Waiting

This Mourning Dove waited for the right time to flutter to the ground and feed. It’s been a tough winter for songbirds and for all wildlife. I’m gratified to have been able to provide a little help for them. Like the birds, we wait for the snow to melt, wait for plants to begin greening, wait for spring.

Family portrait of sorts, and endurance

Like the maple tree all five of us reached out to the sun, enjoying some time outside. We have endured a long, cold, snowy winter. It isn’t over yet, we will have more cold and snow to endure. Yet I think the most brutal and hardest spells are behind us. Winter’s end is closer, each day spring is one day closer. A cardinal was caroling in our Manitoba maple day before yesterday.

Winter

February dwindles, drains, fades. March, with its promise of spring, rebirth, renewal, is only a short time ahead. Winter throws one more punch of Arctic cold to remind us that it is still here, the equinox has not yet come. We must wait a little longer, continue to be patient.

Spring will come.

Patiently waiting

Patiently waiting

Our regular hangout – our deck – from early spring into late fall, currently waiting for milder weather to return. We will likely take up residence before spring officially returns.

Early Light

Early Light

Our neighbours’ tree reaches out to embrace the cold, crystalline light of a recent dawn. One more bitter cold night endured, one more sunny, chilly day to bask in.

Each day brings spring one day closer.

Waiting

Waiting

We came across this chair on the riverbank during yesterdays walk, waiting for spring, waiting for someone to take a load off and relax while waiting.
