Primary feathers extended, right wing and head highlighted by the early evening sun, a Turkey Vulture effortlessly soars.

A House Sparrow surveys its surroundings.

A Red-breasted Nuthatch snatches a sunflower seed.
Peaceably
An American Goldfinch and a Pine Siskin peaceably share drinking from the bird bath.
Who knows?
Faye and I strolled along a woodland trail today. It was a very enjoyable walk on a quiet day with very kind weather. During the walk I saw a hole drilled by a woodpecker. Unfortunately I cannot upload the photo.
Nest hole? Unlikely, since it was less than 3 meters off the ground. Drilling for food? Probably.
Who knows? Who will ever know? Only the woodpecker.
Some mysteries should be left unsolved.

Tundra Swans are starting to winter over in our part of Ontario. Since they tend to stay far from roads and look more like white dots than birds even through my 300mm lens, I felt fortunate to capture these individuals about 100 meters away.

A Pine Siskin flits away from the heated bird bath/watering trough.
