I was fortunate to be outside when this faint rainbow appeared this morning, otherwise I would have missed its subtle beauty.

The tomato patch.
The three Chocolate Cherry Tomatoes we planted have been more successful than we anticipated. We have picked more than a dozen pints’ worth so far and have many more pints’ worth on the way.
WordPress is not allowing me to upload the photo. Imagine a jungle of three plants, six feet tall by six feet wide. Imagine crawling on elbows and knees into the jungle, looking for ripe tomatoes. This is the happy problem we have.
Bursting
For us, the first half of May has been significantly colder than the historical norm, which has slowed down springs’ arrival. Then we had a month’s worth of rain in five days. As of Tuesday spring finally seems to be here to stay, which means that our redbud tree is bursting with colour!

I went through some photos today. Came across this one of now gone on ahead ACDx Stella (foreground) and Achilles, and smiled. I was privileged to share years with them.
I had no idea.
I was able to capture several images of a Red-bellied Woodpecker this afternoon. I had no idea which photo to post. I chose this one,
Tilt and soar.
We have looked forward to the Turkey Vultures’ return. It is good to see this first one return, and we look forward to watching them tilt and soar for the next several months.

Canadian Pacific Railroad Holiday Train.
The CP Holiday Train came to my part of the world today so I went to see. There are actually two trains – the Canadian train and the US train. This was the US train; on Monday it will begin making stops in the States.
This is the 21st year the train has made its journey to collect food and funds for local food banks. So of course I donated some food and money to our local food bank. The hook to draw people to the event is that a musical performer performs a short free concert at each stop. The performer(s) on this years’ US train is Alan Doyle (of Great Big Sea fame) and his Beautiful Band. The weather was not bad for the end of November – overcast, a light breeze, temperature about 33F or 1C.
I was fortunate to see the show, and fortunate to be in a position to donate for people in need.
