Briefly

.The sun briefly appeared this morning between horizon and clouds.

Wondrously, marvellously.

A recent sunrise set the sky wondrously, marvellously, spectacularly, beautifully, ablaze.

Red sky at morning . . .

. . . sailor take warning.

The old saying certainly held true for non-sailors in southwest Ontario this week. After this lovely and marvellous Monday morning sunrise, the rest of the week was cloudy, rainy, chilly, with snow and ice melting and rivers rising.

Welcome to my first post of the new year. Let me know what you think!

Glory.

The glory of a sunrise announces the beginning of another day. I am very glad to have broken my routine to witness it, and to share it with you.

A glorious sunrise, shared with you.

Burst of brilliance.

A thin layer of fog just above the ground transformed the suns’ appearance into a burst of brilliance.

Almost crystalline.

One aspect of the beauty of African violet flowers is that they are almost crystalline, hewn from stone.

Way station.

Turkey Vultures are migrating, heading south for the winter. A short time ago we marvelled at the dozens of them soaring, gliding into trees, going to roost for the night at this way station. These are only a few of the 50+ that we had the pleasure to see.

Trio.

I counted 42 Turkey Vultures on the move the other day. Despite my mad snapping away trying to capture such large numbers, after reviewing my images the best I did was to capture this trio.

No time.

I had no time to get out from under the hydro lines to capture this flight of Turkey Vultures soaring on the early evening wind before they departed the scene.

Magic Carpet II

During my ride on the magic carpet (also known as the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museums’ C-47 Dakota), we flew along the south shore of Lake Ontario and passed over this ship, which may have been the Ganges Star, an oil/chemical tanker.
