Dinner was served.

A recent dinner: Smoked pork tenderloin, smoked mashed potatoes, scarlet runner beans from the garden with red pepper grilled in a foil packet, and picked-that-day grilled corn slathered with a mayonnaise and sriracha sauce aioli.

It was as good as it looks.

Colourful

Faye cam across this colourful cicada while gardening. After this photo session she released it onto the Manitoba Maples’ trunk.

Back on Thursday.

Perspective

We spend most of our relaxing time in the backyard on the deck. Sometimes, though, we settle in this spot, which provides a completely different perspective on our humble little garden.

To its level

To better enjoy this Johnny Jump-up, I got down to its level. It is another of my favourite flowers; we let them self-seed and jump up almost anywhere they can.

Stands out

This Purple Coneflower stands out from the background.

Back on Thursday – possibly. An event has my full attention. We will see how my time goes that evening.

Survivors

Forget-me-nots are among my favourite flowers. Last years’ havoc wrought to the flower bed along the shed foundation didn’t faze these survivors. Seeing this hardiness added to my fondness for these delicate yet hardy plants.

Taking my usual Wednesday break, back on Thursday.

Dinner is served

Pork ribs slow cooked then finished on the grill. Accompaniments: sliced potatoes and onions grilled in a foil packet with a little butter and pepper; and cauliflower rolled in flour, egg washed, rolled in panko crumbs, then sauteed, served with feta, and mint fresh from the garden. Followed by greens fresh from the garden.

Enjoyed outside on a very pleasant evening.

Yum.

To their level

These little daffodils are so attractive that I descended to their level – ground level – for a better perspective.
