Found it.

It has been a cold and very dry January. Open water has been a scarce resource for the songbirds that we feed. The heated bird bath failed. I bought and put out a new one, and the American Goldfinches found it within fifteen minutes.

Handsome.

I feed songbirds year round, though less diligently from late spring through autumn.

This handsome House Sparrow visited yesterday for some sunflower seed.

Peaceably

An American Goldfinch and a Pine Siskin peaceably share drinking from the bird bath.

Paused.

Visits.

A House Finch visits a sunflower feeder.

Chickadee.

Although I am in chickadee country, I have not regularly seen chickadees at my feeders for almost ten years. Why, is a mystery. So I was very pleased to see this fellow and one other during the past two days. Their antics are so pleasing and amusing, I do hope they hang around!
