Fog-wrapped dawn

Sometimes, fog forms as relatively warm air slowly moves over the late winter snowpack. The results can be magical.

Pastels

The extraordinarily delicate pastels of a late winter dawn rarely fail to catch my eye. At times I wonder whether I see colour more intensely than other people, or whether I pay more attention to seemingly little things like this. Whatever the reason, I am grateful for scenes like this.

Layered

A thin layer of fog which lay just above this farmhouse, then apparently descended to ground level beyond it made for quite an image.

Sparse colour

In February, black and tones of white, grey, and brown dominate the palette. It becomes necessary to look deeply and far for colour. This barn and shed well off the road added some welcome reds to the scene.

Sun-dogs

Hurrying to work one day, I looked over my shoulder at the sunrise. This scene called to me, I was compelled to stop and admire this awesomely, breathtakingly beautiful sight. Compelled to give thanks for this work of art that I was blessed to see and to share with you.

Greetings

A stand of teasel greets a glorious dawn. I’m very glad to have made time to stop, drink in this marvellous scene, and to share it with you.

Bite

I stopped at a favourite spot to take a few photos, snapping away until the bitter cold bit my fingertips. I could return to my warm car. What I saw and what you see sleeps outdoors, awaiting spring.
