Lowering

The lowering sky brings a promise of snow, beginning tonight and lasting through Sunday. Forecasts suggest up to 20cm. That’s fine, we will be snug, cooking and baking, foraying out to shovel as we need, keeping the bird feeders full, walking the pups.

Threatened

The sky threatened to spew snow during most of today day, carrying out its threat only a few times.

There will be many more opportunities during the next few months.

Colour

An overcast, grey, almost gloomy day ended with a pleasant splash of colour, low in the western sky.

Immense

I enjoy revisiting how immense the prairie sky, the flatland sky, is. There is always something to see, above the skyline and below the skyline.

Though I was busy with chores this evening, this cirrus cloud caught my eye.

Immense

The country sky is immense, all encompassing. I love being able to see from horizon to horizon.

Big sky

One thing I love about living in flat land country is how big the sky is. I have heard that Montana styles itself as big sky country. While Montana is undoubtedly a beautiful part of the world, I think that southwest Ontario is also big sky country.

Immensity revisited

In the flatlands, the sky stretches virtually if not completely from horizon to horizon. The immensity, the feeling, of it cannot be captured in one regular image.
