On the move.

Turkey Vultures are on the move, starting to head south for the season. I counted 40 a short time ago and was fortunate to capture this one.

Easy to forget.

When viewing such lovely flowers, it is easy to forget I work at an industrial site.

Silhouetted.

Silhouetted agains a grey, grey overcast, a Turkey Vulture rides the wind.

Do not know.

I do not know, cannot know, whether this one of our (at least two) resident chipmunks was resting, remaining motionless in an attempt to blend into the scenery, (anthropomorphising here) waiting for me to finish photographing it from about four meters away, or for another reason. Once I finished I called the dogs and we went inside so it had some undisturbed, safe time.

Hovers.

A male Ruby-throated Hummingbird hovers near the feeder. Shot through the kitchen window and attendant screen, so a little blurry.

Welcome residents.

At least two chipmunks live in or around the back yard. Their attention to gleaning seed spilled or otherwise discarded from the bird feeders, in addition to their amusing skittering around, makes them welcome residents.

Blue moon.

Although it was not blue to my eyes or to the camera, it was the second full moon of the month.

Storm.

I witnessed this storm pass near my workplace yesterday.

Unsettled.

My areas’ weather has been unsettled since yesterday morning. Very heavy rain, some significant wind gusts, and almost constant lightning in storms. Some locations have recorded over 200mm (about 10″) of rain since yesterday morning. So much rain that farmers cannot get into their fields. More unsettled weather may be, likely is, on the way later this evening.

I saw this towering cloud this morning.

No time.

I had no time to get out from under the hydro lines to capture this flight of Turkey Vultures soaring on the early evening wind before they departed the scene.
