Still light.

There is light in the southwestern sky at 6:00PM. A timeless reminder that, while winter still reigns and will for a while yet, seasons turn.

Grey and brown

This seasons’ dominant colours are grey and brown, which is not entirely bad. I feel more grateful, blessed, fortunate, for each dash of colour such as this, provided by our redbud this spring.

Fallen

Leaves, fallen on the deck. The seasons turn, life changes, goes on. Fall is a good season, a transition between the season of growth and that of rest.

Reflect

This is a season of slowing down, of reflection. We reflect on the gifts of summer and, if we are open, the gifts of fall and of the season, the seasons to come.

Harbinger

I almost overlooked this maple leaf. It was lodged in sand at the edge of the stepping stones, a place I walk several times daily. I’m normally looking up, around, yet I looked down and saw this.

A harbinger that Fall is coming. That’s fine, even good. Life, the seasons, are a circle, a wheel, around which we travel. I look forward to whatever delights and mysteries this fall brings.
