Stella’s challenging day

Stella had another dental procedure done yesterday. It involved incising sections of gum tissue and flapping them over then suturing them into place over oronasal fistulae, Two flaps over one fistula, two over another. There were car rides before and after. Poor girl. The ride home was hard on her and all of us wanted to be home, in our home, where we could rest in a safe place.

The alternative – doing nothing – was not an alternative.

She ate well this morning and got all the prescribed Metacam dose, and ate well tonight. Stella is doing all right this evening, right now a doughnut dog in the bolster bed. Tomorrow evening I’ll take her on a stroll around the block.

Glowed

These mid-level clouds glowed in the brilliant moonlight before last night’s eclipse began.

Schoolhouse

That’s what we think it was. An old house used to be next door; it was knocked down a few years ago to create another half acre of farmland. We were pleased that this old building has survived so far. What stories it must have to tell!

Season of plenty

From upper right: Home-grown garlic; home-grown red and purple potatoes; and a ‘basket’ of vegetables – snap peas, cherry and grape tomatoes, vine tomatoes, bell peppers, and onion, and radishes – from the nursery at the edge of town. All organic goodness. How blessed we are to have our own little garden and a good nursery in our little town.
