Gratitude

I felt grateful today. It’s a blessing to live in a place where having a car isn’t  absolutely necessary to run many errands that need running. Instead of needing to drive to the post office, dentist’s office, ATM, library, grocery store, the hardware store, and more destinations, I can choose to drive or I can walk. I can certainly walk more yet can choose to walk, which is a choice that many people do not have. I love living in my little town.

Caught

The heavy, wet, ‘sticky’ snow also was caught in the gate.

A wet, ‘sticky’ snowfall was caught and held by all it contacted. Our redbud tree became a work of art.

Stand out

A morning’s frost helps an ordinary stone stand out from an ordinary background.

Contrast

It was a lovely today, more like mid-April than mid-February. After finishing chores, Faye and I spent a little time outside enjoying the sun and high 50s temperatures.

Quite different from last February, when the temperature was about 19F and snow lay deep on the ground.

That’s Big Bear

Blessed

In May 2006 a friend tipped me off about a dog in a shelter. I adopted Achilles based on that tip and my evaluation, though logic and reason suggested otherwise. Sometimes you do something that makes no sense at that time.

For nearly ten years now Faye and I have shared life with this gentle, loving dog. Our lives have been immensely richer, immensely blessed.
