House Sparrows forage in a cedar bush.

A House Sparrow keeps a watchful eye on me as it cracks open a sunflower seed.

I got a good peek at an American Goldfinch visiting the nyger feeder.

Feeding songbirds has the side effect of birds dropping seed throughout our yard, which results in volunteer sunflowers popping up. We generally let them pop up and thrive or not. This volunteer adds cheer to the middle part of the vegetable garden.

I feed the birds year round, though less diligently in the warm months when multiple food sources are available.
