Still sorting through old photos, a good thing to do on a snowy February day. I tool this photo May 2003 during a trip to the east coast of Florida to visit family. I used a simple point and shoot camera (Sony DSC-P41) and was pleased by how it turned out.
Sorting through photos, I came across this one of a white trillium, Trillium grandiflorum, Ontario’s official emblem. On one of my visits before moving to Canada Faye led me on a walk on a path in the bush adjacent to Wawanosh Lake in Huron County. It may have been the first time I saw this beautiful woodland flower.
These gaillardia grace our property. Although the minimalist shades and colours of winter have their own beauty, sometimes it’s good to add a splash of colour to your life.
Our regular hangout – our deck – from early spring into late fall, currently waiting for milder weather to return. We will likely take up residence before spring officially returns.
I want to thank every one of you who have taken the time to visit my blog and look at my photos. A particular, deep, and genuine thank you to every person who makes the time to like a post, to comment, to follow me in my mental and photographic meanderings.
I started blogging in June 2013 with the notion of posting less than random thoughts about a number of topics (see About Me for some of those topics). Beyond that I was unsure how, how often I would post, whether people would read, what I would do if no one visited.
Since then I’ve discovered, or rediscovered, an interest in photography. The blog has concurrently evolved into a place to share a few of my photos, and also evolved into a place to share my gratitude for seeing, looking, and appreciating the blessings all around me. My snug home, my healthy dogs, finding beauty in the remarkable and the mundane. Most of all Faye, my sweetie.
I passed 300 posts and 2,000 views recently. Thank you very much, each and every one of my followers. I’m very pleased that you find my posts worth your time.
This is a drama free zone, free of complaints, struggle stories, anger, strife. There’s plenty of that out there for folks who want or need it. Not me, thank you very much. I prefer peace, appreciation, and contemplation. Though you will see the odd post that diverges from the theme, I will continue exploring, expanding on, sharing, it.

The GBBC will happen this weekend, Friday through Monday. I plan to submit a checklist every day. Mourning Doves like these (which I photographed in the backyard) are regular residents, so I expect to report seeing them every day.
Many things wore a coat of hoarfrost yesterday morning. This teasel head was one of the many touched by delicate beauty.
Faye made these wonderful rolls from the Master [dough] Recipe in the book The New Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. The dough is easy to make, stores for up to two weeks, and produces the the equivalent of (I think) about five loaves of bread. They were delicious.
