Wore a veil and a ring.

The sun wore a veil and a ring this afternoon.

Fresh out of the oven, this boule was too warm to slice. Waiting for it to cool required a lot of patience.

It was worth the wait.

Trying to help.

Trying to help the songbirds get through a (what I hope is the last) late winter snowfall by generously scattering seed.

Tolerated.

Lengthening daylight hours and somewhat warmer temperatures have brought waterfowl back to the spray field at my workplace. Nesting behaviour hasn’t quite yet begun.

This Mute Swan, which species can be quite aggressive, tolerated me being about ten meters away. I moved on after taking this photo.

Having none of it.

A recent freezing rain event left beautiful yet weighty evidence of its visit.

Away from predators.

Thirty feet off the ground, this pair of Canada Geese are well away from ground-based predators.

Perched, redux.

Also during the Great Backyard Bird Count, I captured this Black-capped Chickadee perched above me in the redbud tree.
