Changed; prolific
WordPress have changed the site editing platform. I hope you will bear with me while I figure it out.
Based on what I see I believe our redcurrant bush will be very prolific this year.
Bursting
For us, the first half of May has been significantly colder than the historical norm, which has slowed down springs’ arrival. Then we had a month’s worth of rain in five days. As of Tuesday spring finally seems to be here to stay, which means that our redbud tree is bursting with colour!
Favourite
A favourite early spring flower is this, the Grape Hyacinth.
Words fail.
Mere words fail to describe how lovely these crocuses are.
Late.
I as a little late in the day to capture these crocuses in full bloom.
Last harvest
A very hard freeze is predicted so Faye cleaned up the vegetable garden today. One of the many sunflowers on our property.
We feed the birds, which means that they and the squirrels deposit sunflower seeds throughout the yard. The seeds sprout. Sunflowers grow. Seed eating birds glean the flower heads. The seeds they miss fall to the ground. The cycle renews, year after year.
While it looks demonic . . .
. . . it isn’t. I recently saw this Cicada Killer wasp not far from my feet. Being about 3 or 4 centimeters long it looked rather intimidating. Yet it was minding its own business never mind being aggressive, even not minding much when I very gently put a stick against its legs. A little research revealed that it can be a beneficial insect and is not aggressive.
It left me alone so I left it alone.

Bounty
Bounty from our berry patch – two plus cups of strawberries and one of haskap, our third harvest of each. Very tasty and enough to freeze for later.
