Gratitude

Life is good. It is not perfect yet it is pretty good. I have decent health, four walls as well as a roof and a bed, reliable hydro and gas, good work, healthy and good dogs, a lovely partner who is also my companion and best friend.

I have so much to be grateful for.

Moonset

After capturing the sunrise in my previous post I turned around. Here is the magical scene that greeted me.What a wonderful morning, what a blessing, what a rich man I am.

Drawn

Lately, I have been drawn to fields of winter wheat. They are ripening, nearing harvest. Combines have been moving through town and on local roads, presumably pre-positioning for the harvest hustle and bustle.

It’s one of the early, large scale crops to come off. This field will come off soon. With this weekends’ predicted very hot weather, soon may be a very few days from today.

I’m drawn in, reminded of what a fruitful, bountiful part of the word I’m blessed to live in.

Patches

Sometimes it seems our life is like this rough country road. Patches covering the hurts and wounds; rolling, bumpy and uneven; going through empty territory; leading to . . . the unknown.

Yet I like it. The hurts and wounds heal. The journey – through territory familiar as well as uncharted – is energising. There is always something to see, to do, to feel. Something to be grateful for.

A different perspective

Normally we look out, down at an angle, up at an angle. Here is the view straight up from our deck. We can benefit from viewing our surroundings from a different perspective.

A marvellous scene, a marvellous morning to be alive.

Stretching

Our neighbour, the White Pine tree, stretches into the ether, a beautiful work of art.  I’m grateful to share time, space, and life with it.

A glorious day

We are blessed with blue sky, a good breeze, and good dogs. Achilles surveys his domain as, in the background, Kendal investigates the naturalised corner of the backyard.

Contrast

On the ground, all is still dark, hidden. Above, a riot of colour and beauty.
