Sun

This morning, I decided to take a photo of our neighbour the pine tree reaching out for the clear sky shortly before sunrise. If the weather forecast holds true we will see little of the sky for the next few days. The sky will be grey instead, and we may get a lot of rain. Our Christmas is unlikely to be white. That’s fine, I don’t need snow to appreciate a special day.

Transforming

Today’s been a busy day. Faye decided (and I agreed) that this is a good time to refresh the kitchen with new paint and and some additional updates. We walked the dogs, did some laundry. Then we got started today by removing the cabinet doors, sanding all of the cabinet work, washing and priming it.

I removed the reverse osmosis water filtration system as we have not used it for quite some time. Doing so involved an unexpected excursion into the realm of minor plumbing repairs and two trips to our local hardware store for fittings. Oh yes, there were also four trips into the crawl space to shut off the water supply, turn it on, shut it off, and turn it on again.

It’s all good, I learned a little bit about our plumbing system and we still made good headway on the cabinets. Here’s a ‘before’ photo, as we did initial setup.

Thankful

Today has been my birthday. In some ways it was unremarkable. Faye and I shopped; we walked the dogs; visited a friend’ checked many movies out of the library; had dinner out.

In other ways it’s been a remarkable day. I am healthy; happy; have work I enjoy doing; have three great dogs; and the most marvellous wife, companion, best friend, partner.

I’m very thankful.

Adventure

I came across this in some old images. Married a few months, Faye and I went to Lake Wawanosh. My first time in (on, actually) a kayak, Kendal at my side. Off on a new adventure, a small adventure. Only one of many, many adventures in the grand adventure that is life.

Blanket

As I hurry home a thin blanket of cirrus draws a cover over the day. The sky and sun have been largely obscured for much of the past few weeks. I was grateful for this subtly colourful tapestry.

Sweeping

Cirrus swept across the sky on a recent morning, adding texture and colour to the canvas of the sky.

Sleeping dog

I captured Achilles during a recent evening. He is as sweet as this photo suggests. A good boy and we are so very blessed to have him.

Evening, our backyard

Taken by Faye

A brilliant sunset filters through the trees into our backyard, imparting an almost Halloween-like air to the evening.
