Faye’s photos – Light and Dark

Faye was quite busy with the camera during our visit to far southwest Ontario, she has quite a good eye. During the next few days I will share several of her compositions.

Looking into the late afternoon sun at Point Pelee, light and dark dominate. Beauty is stark, austere.

Frigid beauty

taken and posted with the PlayBook

Faye and I took a quick anniversary getaway to the sunny, warm south . . . all the way to Leamington, Ontario.  *grin* We stayed in a very good B&B, stopped at a winery, treated ourselves to an excellent dinner out.

We also did a little walking at Point Pelee National Park, walking to the southernmost point of mainland Canada. The Point, where this photo was taken, was jacketed in ice and snow. We did not linger, given the ~50 kph wind and ~minus 25C wind chill. Yet there is a stark, austere beauty here. A soltary, lonely beauty. We were there at about 3pm and saw only two sets of tracks left by people similarly hardy and adventurous.

Bark

This sycamore limb at Rock Glen beckoned, asking to be photographed and shared.

Blanket

As I hurry home a thin blanket of cirrus draws a cover over the day. The sky and sun have been largely obscured for much of the past few weeks. I was grateful for this subtly colourful tapestry.

Sweeping

Cirrus swept across the sky on a recent morning, adding texture and colour to the canvas of the sky.

Don’t hurry

Though I was anxious to get home on a late autumn day, this spectacle entranced me, compelled me to stop and give thanks. When we hurry through life looking for beauty, glory, contentment, and happiness, sometimes we hurry right past all of these blessings.

Dull?

This season’s colours are muted. The sky is often cloudy, blue-grey for days at a time. Fields are shades of tan, brown, dun. Dull? Perhaps, to some sensibilities. My sensitivity to shades and grades of colour is heightened, sharpened. I try to appreciate these muted scenes for their own beauty.
