Dawn: Tree and moon

This scene provided a wonderfully peaceful beginning to my work day.

Kendal on Patrol

Our senior boy Kendal on patrol in the backyard. He’s thirteen and perhaps his favourite place in his universe during this very harsh winter has been on the bed, in front of the Magic Heat Box aka the wall furnace. It’s been a challenging winter, especially for his arthritic bones. Now we are soaking up the sun, the warmth of March, and are very grateful. It’s so good that Kendal is here to help us welcome the blessed warmth of spring.

Wind up toy

I sometimes think of the Dark-eyed Junco as the songbirds’ version of a wind-up toy. It suddenly starts to skitter over the ground or snow and as suddenly stops. It will quickly back- then forward-scratch to reveal hidden tidbits. I enjoy watching them go about their business.

Pastels

The extraordinarily delicate pastels of a late winter dawn rarely fail to catch my eye. At times I wonder whether I see colour more intensely than other people, or whether I pay more attention to seemingly little things like this. Whatever the reason, I am grateful for scenes like this.

Filigree

This frost on the car windshield compelled me to pause and appreciate.
