First visit.

I happened to be sitting on the deck when this Baltimore Oriole made its first visit of the season to my backyard hummingbird feeder, which it prefers to the larger oriole feeder.

Had the better angle.

Faye had the better angle to capture this Rose-breasted Grosbeak waiting to approach one of our feeders.

I got down.

I got down to this Grape Hyacinths’ level in order to capture it from a different perspective.

Loved.

I have always loved Lucy’s floppy ears, and am so grateful that they were not cropped by one of her previous owners.

Furry.

Coming into work one day something different, something out of place, caught my attention. Rather than clumsily and insensitively blunder into something I continued inside, then grabbed the camera and carefully went to the windows.

What had caught my attention was this furry bunny, an Eastern Cottontail rabbit. Although I have seen them on site I don’t recall ever seeing one in this spot.

Sunrise, May 05.

Although greeting every new day is a blessed event, this new day’s spectacle was truly remarkable and I’m thankful to have witnessed it.

Blends in.

This female Northern Cardinal blends in very well; only her beak betrays her presence.

Something caught her eye.

I saw nothing out of the ordinary. But then, I am not a dog so I obviously missed it whatever it was.

Adorable.

I happened to look out the laundry room window at the right time to see this chipmunk at the edge of the deck, finishing a meal of sunflower seeds. This appears to be a bit out of focus because I shot it through the screened laundry room window.

We’re happy to share space and resources with it. Before letting the dogs out we go out ourselves first and walk around, wave our arms and speak up, thereby giving it the opportunity to skitter for cover.
